Beta 1.5 (Update Log)

Before we start:

The game is officially 2 years old in development! If you want to read the plans of the game please check this document out, thanks. This update brings Local Multiplayer (not to be confused with LAN Multiplayer). Not only that but other stuff like water mechanics. And yes, you can place water in level editor, you’re welcome.

Features in Beta 1.5:

Main Menu:

- Added more splashtexts.

- Support section expanded, you can now check the official twitter page of TCC!

Stats:

- Stats will now track:

  1. Oxygen Pickups
  2. 1UP Pickups
  3. Rockets Destroyed

- EXP Formula Changed.

Settings:

- Added Liquid Shaders Setting, it adds wave-like shaders on water or lava.

- Added Gun Visibility Setting, adds light behind the gun so it doesn’t blend in the background.

- Changed the preset settings in visual settings.

Story Mode:

- Changed few levels.

- W5-L19 is now much more difficult.

- Piano Boss music has been changed.

Hard Mode:

- Changed few levels.

Blocks, Items, Level Editor:

- Water has been added in the colorful creature! Once the player enters water it’s movement is slowed down, you can jump higher and you have a oxygen meter

- If your oxygen meter runs out, you die. It lasts about 7-10 seconds.

- Added the oxygen replenisher item to replenish your oxygen (or just simply call it a bubble)

- Guns do not work underwater but the bullets you shoot can go through water.

- Stuff like troops, bullets, rockets and player bullets slow down while underwater as well.

- New Category in level editor: Liquids! You can now place water and lava in your levels.

- Liquids are NOT BLOCKS.

- To place liquids, you need click at two chosen points!

- You can place any liquid anywhere but you cannot place a liquid on top of other liquids.

- Updated level editor save/load to support scaling and animation frame.

- Added background slopes as block backgrounds.

- You can now place background slopes!

- Background slopes can be rotated 90 degrees.

- You can rotate background slopes in level editor by simply clicking on them while the background category is selected.

- Background slopes also have 5 variants. Red, Yellow, Green, Blue and White.

- Lava kills the player and troops instantly.

- Three songs have been added in Level Editor.

Fun Mode:

- Added a new challenge, the water challenge! It is 3 / 5 difficulty!

- Added a skin that can be unlocked by beating the water challenge.

- Added Local Multiplayer. (Well, it was added before but it was basically featureless).

Anyways not to be confused with “LAN Multiplayer”, local multiplayer is a mode where you can play with others on a single device.

- When selecting Local Multiplayer, people can choose to play either with 2, 3 or 4 people.

- Once that is done, each player must pick their skin and controls. Controls must be unique to each player, two or more players cannot select the same controls.

- Skins are more valuable, because the skins are unlockable. You unlock them the same way as you would before, by beating challenges, story mode sections, bosses and other difficult parts of the game.

- Once everything is configured with skins/controls, the minigames for local multiplayer can be chosen.

- There are two minigames currently: Survival and Race

- In Survival, to win, you must be last man standing to win a round. There will be hazards and items flying from above. If you manage to get a gun, you can shoot others and get a win quickly, but you have to be careful, you do not have infinite ammo!

- In Race, to win, you must be the first one to complete a level.

Endless Run:

- Added the water challenge into the mix!

- Three new tracks can be heard in Endless Run.

Other:

- Optimized the game by using switch statements instead of if else.

- The game has Rich Presence Discord API so it can track if you are playing the game, and various other things.

- The gun has it's texture group in this version (due to having a lot of frames, hopefully improves performance)

- Splash text code got reworked.

- Assigned all music and sound effects in audio groups.

- Rewrote code for audio volume.

Bugfixes in Beta 1.5:

- Cleaned up code with narrator text. (had like 200 unnecessary if statements)

- Some if/else statements replaced with switch statements for more performance

- Fixed an annoying bug with the local multiplayer music that kept playing

- You can now exit properly from the settings menu when using ESC

- FPS counter would be changing it's position of the text for some reason.

- Hexagon skin has a proper death animation (should be hexagon instead of circle)

- Hats slightly adjusted to the right

- Fixed spellings with text.

- Master volume should now be affected in beta 1.5 when starting the game

- Spikes (and invisible spikes) are now always in front of backgrounds

- Fixed a rare bug in Endless Mode where specifically the world 4 music would stop in W5-L1

- Fixed the “vk_left” and “vk_right” controls bug!

- Fixed various crashes

- Other bugfixes
